Non-Standard Lighting FAQs
What lighting products or technologies qualify for this program?
The Non-Standard Lighting Program is designed to support equipment and controls that can save energy (kWh). Incentives are based on kWh saved, regardless of what lighting products or technologies are used. Equipment must be code compliant.
How does the pre-approval process work for Non-Standard Lighting projects?
Participants should submit a complete application package that includes a completed and signed application form,
a completed Non-Standard Lighting program calculator spreadsheet and equipment specification cut sheets to verify the energy use of the proposed equipment.
Program staff conducts a technical review of the application package and, if needed, contacts the participant with any questions. Upon completion of technical review, the participant is issued a preapproval letter. Upon receipt of the preapproval letter, the participant may purchase and install their energy efficient equipment.
I am having difficulty filling out the Non-Standard Lighting Program Calculator Spreadsheet.

During our project, we changed the amount of lights we installed. How should I notify the program?
Please revise the Lighting Calculator Spreadsheet to reflect the actual equipment that was installed and send that to us with an itemized invoice reflecting what was installed.
With the new lighting equipment, my total change in connected load is more than 50kW. The excel lighting calculator is asking for a Coincidence Factor. Where do I get this number?
Pennsylvania applicants with total change in connected load of more than 50 kW should see the detailed lighting hours of use table provided in the Non-Standard Lighting calculator on the instructions page, and choose the space types and hours that best represent their project.
If an applicant can document measured lighting wattage that is on during the time periods 12pm-8pm, May 1 - September 30, as a percent of maximum lighting wattage, they may enter that percent as their "Applicant Coincidence Factor (CF) Estimate". Otherwise, the calculator will provide a
default coincidence factor for that applicant's chosen space type. For more information, contact a program representative at
energysavePA@saic.com.
Do my CFLs need to be ENERGY STAR rated to receive incentives?
No, the CFL does not need to be ENERGY STAR to receive incentives.
